  35. Question: My modem software doesn't work at 9600 baud with                      
  36.           my Windows and DOS Software.                                          
  37. .                                                                               
  38. Answer:   A OS/2 2.0 VDM (virtual DOS Machine) only provides                    
  39.           1000 VDM interuppts per second.  This is too slow                     
  40.           for 9600 baud.  Lower the modem speed to 4800 Baud                    
  41.           or lower.  This will be addressed in a future                         
  42.           version of OS/2 2.0.  APAR# PJ03990.

  44. Fax Boards and Fax Software

  47. Question: My Windows Fax Software doesn't work from a                           
  48.           seamless windows session.

  50. Answer:   Some software does not work correctly in a WINOS2                     
  51.           window, try running it from a full screen WINOS2                      
  52.           session.

  54. Question: My fax software doesn't work at 9600 baud with my                     
  55.           Windows and DOS Software.

  57. Answer:   A OS/2 2.0 VDM (virtual DOS Machine) only provides                    
  58.           1000 interuppts per second.  This is too slow for                     
  59.           9600 baud.  Lower the fax speed to 4800 Baud or                       
  60.           lower.  This will be addressed in a future version                    
  61.           of OS/2 2.0.  If you cannot slow down your fax                        
  62.           software, then it will not currently work in OS/2                     
  63.           2.0.  APAR# PJ03990.

  65. WINOS/2 Scanners and Scanner Software

  68. Question: Logitech Scanman 256 doesn't run on WINOS/2, but                      
  69.           runs in a VDM by itself.                                              
  70. .                                                                               
  71. Answer:   Logitech Scanman uses a DLL which makes a 4B                          
  72.           interrupt call.  This interrupt is not supported                      
  73.           under WINOS/2.  This interrupt is planned to be                       
  74.           supported in the next release of WINOS/2.  No                         
  75.           workaround.  APAR#PJ04100- closed PER - available                     
  76.           next release.

  78. Question: FOTOTOUCH doesn't run on WIN-OS/2.

  80. Answer:   FOTOTOUCH uses the same DLL Logitech Scanman uses                     
  81.           which makes a 4B interrupt call.  This interrup is                    
  82.           not supported under WINOS/2.  It is planned to be                     
  83.           supported in a future release of WINOS/2.  No                         
  84.           workaround.  APAR#PJ04100 - closed PER - available

  87. Multimedia

  90. Question: Soundblaster applications do not work correctly                       
  91.           under WIN-OS/2.                                                       
  92. .                                                                               
  93. Answer:   Some Soundblaster and Soundblaster PRO                                
  94.           applications will work OK.  However, many                             
  95.           soundblaster applications have problems.  Most of                     
  96.           these problem applications try to use more than                       
  97.           1000 interrupts per second to generate sound.  The                    
  98.           Parrot program provided with soundblaster is one                      
  99.           of these problem applications.  Applications that                     
  100.           use DMA for sound generation instead of the                           
  101.           interrupt method will have a better chance of                         
  102.           running.  The 1000 interrupt per second problem is                    
  103.           being addressed.  Currently there are no work                         
  104.           arounds if you are experiencing problems with a                       
  105.           Soundblaster board.  APAR PJ03959.

  107. Question: MIDI software and boards do not work correctly.                       
  108. .                                                                               
  109. Answer:   Some MIDI software and applications also                              
  110.           experience problems because of the 1000 interrupts                    
  111.           problem.  No workaround at this time.
